Top 2 Accessories

1.       Garmin Forerunner Bike Mount
The Garmin Forerunner Bike Mount allows you to collect workout data while cycling. It is easily attached to the bike mount and also great for a clean, easy transition from running to biking. Most people would prefer this to the forerunner quick release kit (mentioned below) for mounting on your bike.

2.       Garmin GSC 10 Speed/Cadence Bike Sensor

Another great addition to the Garmin Forerunner 305 is the Speed or Cadence Bike Sensor. This kit comes in three basic parts; a sensor unit, which is about the size of a matchbox, and two magnets about the size of your pinky nail. There are also several zip-ties included for mounting purposes. Installation is pretty straightforward, but you must follow the directions carefully and don't snug down the zip-ties until you have got all three components just where you want them and have tested the system! I won’t bore you with too much details about installation but the guide is pretty useful in telling you what to do.

Basically the GSC 10 Cadence bike sensor monitors your cycling rhythm and then provides feedback to the user in terms of pedaling strokes per minute which you can later feed the results to the Garmin training centre software. This helps you to tailor your workouts according to your training goals and objectives.

N.B. The above 2 items are frequently purchased together with the Garmin Forerunner 305. However, there are many other accessories that you should consider

Additional Accessories To Consider..

1. Garmin Forerunner Quick Release Kit

The Quick Release Kit is quite similar to the Forerunner Bike mount in terms of function. It contains a Velcro wrist strap with a sturdy plastic mounting clip. The original straps for the 305 will need to be removed permanently and replaced with the Velcro strap found in this quick release kit. Instructions are provided with this kit to tell you how to do the whole thing. There are tools to help with removal of the original strap. Once done correctly, it takes a very short time, approximately 5 – 10 seconds to do the whole thing. It is easily mounted onto the bike while you do your training as it also comes with a bike mount.

In terms of popularity the Forerunner Bike Mount is a better option for mounting your Garmin Forerunner 305.
